MiPEF Scholarship Program
The Michigan Petroleum Association and Michigan Association of Convenience Stores (MPA/MACS) is pleased to offer the MiPEF Scholarship Program designed to assist employees and children or spouses of employees of Active, Retail and Associate Member companies. The MiPEF Scholarship Program provides scholarships to students attending college or vocational programs at any accredited post-secondary institution.
The program is administered by Scholarship America a national nonprofit student aid service organization. Awards will be granted without regard to race, color, creed, sex, disability, national origin, or financial need.
Eligibility
Employees, children of employees or spouses of employees of MPA/MACS Active, Retail or Associate Members. Applicants must be employed a minimum of one year as of the application deadline. The Applicant’s employer must be an MPA/MACS member in good standing for a minimum of one year as of the application deadline.
High school seniors or graduates and college undergraduates who are enrolled or who will be enrolled in a full-time* undergraduate course of study at an accredited public or private two or four year college, university, or vocational-technical school.
(* Full-time study is defined as full-time enrollment for the entire upcoming academic year)
Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, leadership, potential to succeed and participation in community and school activities, honors, work experience, a statement of education and career goals, and an outside appraisal.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship Management Services. In no instance does any member or staff of MPA/MACS or its member companies play a part in the selection.
Applicants will be notified in June whether they have been awarded or denied a scholarship.
Awards
Two $2,000 scholarship, two $1,000 scholarship and four $500 scholarship will be awarded to seven (8) deserving college students for one full year of study.
Awards are not automatically renewable. Students, however, may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
Obligations
Recipients have no obligation to MiPEF or its participating members. They are, however, required to supply Scholarship Management Services with current transcripts and to notify Scholarship Management Services of any changes of address, school enrollment or other relevant information. Except as described in this brochure, no obligation is assumed by MPA/MACS or its member companies.
Application
Interested students must complete the online application above no later than April 29th.
Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information. Applications are evaluated on the information supplied; therefore, it is important to answer all questions as completely as possible. All information received is considered confidential and is reviewed only by Scholarship Management Services.
Revisions
MiPEF reserves the right to review the conditions and procedures of this scholarship program and to make changes at any time including termination of the program. Previously approved scholarships will not be affected by subsequent changes to the program.
Payment of Awards
On behalf of MiPEF, Scholarship Management Services will pay awards in August. Checks will be mailed to each recipient’s home address and will be made payable to the school for the student.
