Michigan marketers need to start squawking loud and clear to their legislators (and their customers) about sales tax on gasoline. How many of you really think that the Mich. Dept. of Treas. is doing an adequate job of FAIRLY auditing and collecting sales tax from everyone in the entire state?  We all know there are some retailers that find the current system an easy way to (intentionally) gain margin advantage over their competitors because they are not submitting their total amount due on sales tax.  The current way Michigan does sales tax on gasoline and diesel is a confusing mess. Is there an easier way out there that will be fair and equal for everyone?
